Metal Finishing

Apparatus delivers quality metal works through integrated surface prep, powder coating, wet paint, and stainless passivation that provide the gloss, texture, and corrosion resistance your projects demand.

apparatus powder coating

More than a pretty face.

A reliable enclosure means little if the finish can’t shrug off freight bumps, harsh cleaners, UV glare, or a salt-spray test. That’s why every step, from sanding and washing to coating and curing, stays under our Poughkeepsie shop control, delivering the quality metal works you and your customer seek.

Start with the surface.

Before color or coating ever touch the metal, we refine the base with diligent abrasive and multi-stage washing procedures. Controlling these early steps in-house lets Apparatus deliver finishes that look sharp on day one and stand up to everyday knocks.

Wet paint, for what powder can’t reach

Two-part urethanes handle the gloss extremes powder can’t reach: ultra-matte for glare-free lab gear or deep-piano black for luxury fixtures. We can match Pantone or RAL shade so corporate colors stay true. The result is a finish that meets the look, feel, and functional demands without extra steps or vendors.

Passivation, stainless that shrugs off bleach

Medical and food-service housings soak in nitric or citric baths, stripping iron residue and building a chromium-rich skin that resists harsh cleaners. Every lot ships with a verification report giving traceable proof that your stainless will stay spotless in service.

Scenario: Buffet guards that quit rusting.

A hotel was swapping out painted mild-steel sneeze guards every year because rust crept in after a single busy season. A recommendation was made to switch the spec to brushed 316 stainless, applied a low-sheen urethane clear coat, and sealed every edge with food-grade silicone. Three seasons later the guards still look showroom-new, maintenance spend is down about 30 percent, and guest surveys now mention “spotlessly clean” buffet lines. The return on investment showed up long before the old guards would have needed their first repaint.

Bottom line.

Quality metal works finishing at Apparatus is a materials lab, not a simple paint booth. Before a part leaves our Poughkeepsie manufacturing facility, we log every variable, from brush grain to gloss retention, in our database that shows it will still look sharp and work hard years down the road. Send us bare metal and we’ll return a surface your customers notice first and remember longest.
